Save a Life! Foster a Homeless Pet.

As a foster-based rescue, we rely on local foster homes to provide temporary care for our homeless dogs. By joining the Lucky 13 foster family, you’ll be directly helping dogs in need! We provide all the supplies and medical care—your job is to provide the love!

What do pet foster families do?

Foster families are similar to foster parents for children. You care for a homeless dog as if they were your own until they are adopted. During this time, you'll learn about the dog’s personality, likes, and dislikes, which helps us find the perfect forever home for them. We’ll train you to screen potential adopters to ensure it’s a good match. You'll experience the joy of seeing your foster dog find their loving family!

Lucky 13 Rescue provides everything you need to care for your foster dog, including food, treats, toys, a kennel, bed, and anything else required. We also cover 100% of the vet bills! Any vet trips must be approved by us first. All we ask of you is to provide shelter, transportation to and from vet appointments, meet-and-greets, training, and, of course, plenty of snuggles!

How long will I have to foster?​

The length of time a dog stays in foster care can vary. Some are adopted within 24 hours, while others may take weeks or even months to find their perfect home. Rest assured, Lucky 13 Rescue will never euthanize a pet for taking too long to be adopted. If you're unable to commit to an uncertain, long-term fostering arrangement, there are other ways you can help. We expect the same commitment from our foster families that we do from our adopters—never giving up on a pet.

If you're unsure about adopting, fostering is a great way to test the waters. You’ll not only save a homeless pet but also get a chance to see if a new pet fits with your lifestyle before making a long-term commitment.
